Cadillac’s latest Escalade has been on sale for a year, winning over buyers with its unmatchable presence, sharp styling and an interior that’s taken great leaps forward over the previous model when it comes to refinement.

We’re hearing that a high-performance Escalade V is in the works. The information comes by way of Motor Trend’s Jonny Lieberman, though there’s been no mention of a source or any other details. One possibility for the vehicle’s engine would be General Motors Company’s [NYSE:GM] supercharged 6.2-liter LT4 V-8 already found in Cadillac’s CTS-V as well as the Chevrolet Corvette Z06. With the LT4, the Escalade V would be packing in excess of 600 horsepower, making it rival for Mercedes-AMG’s GL63 (soon to become a GLS63) as well as Bentley’s new Bentayga. No doubt a comparison could also be made with Jeep’s Hellcat-powered Grand Cherokee Trackhawk coming down the line.
