Toyota Targeting Higher Efficiency with Next Generation Prius

With everyone else already using lithium-ion batteries, Toyota hopefully will modernize its Prius line with quick-charging, less bulky lithiums like Volt, Ford, Nissan, etc have done.  Right now, only the plug-in Prius uses the lithium, except in other markets were consumers like the latest technology in models like the Prius V. The global Prius V has three rows of seats, but the U.S. model, saddled with ancient nickel-metal batteries, can only get two.  Hope Toyota gets the message.  Given the choice, I suspect most consumers would be like the Japanese and choose lithiums over the nickel-metals when buying the Prius V.
