2013 Toyota Yaris

0

Pros:  Ample head and knee room; Attractive interior; Affordable

Cons:  Fuel consumption trails competitors; Anemic engine

Overview
The Yaris won’t be winning any races anytime soon but it is surprisingly agile and offers a competitive driving feel. All models are equipped with a 106 horsepower 1.5L 4-cylinder engine, which hasn’t changed from previous years’. The range topping SE is outfitted with a beefier suspension, quicker steering, 4-wheel disc brakes, and a rear spoiler.

This little econobox does not have a class leading amount of cargo space either. Chances are you won’t be stuffing a mountain bike through the rear hatch. That is unless you don’ disassemble it first. Despite its lack of cavernous space, what space it does have is more than plenty to run your daily errands. So, if you are in need of affordable yet reliable transportation, the Toyota Yaris is the perfect vehicle.

Body Styles, Trims & Options
One really can’t expect a pocket sixed subcompact, starting at just over 14 thousand, to really offer much in the way of swanky creature comforts. Shoppers will find that the 3-door L and 5-door SE are available with a 5-speed manual transmission while the 5-Door L and LE models are limited to a 4-speed automatic transmission only.

Standard equipment on the L includes 15-inch steel wheels, air conditioning, a fold-down rear seatback, power door locks, Bluetooth® and a 6-speaker audio system with a CD player, an auxiliary audio jack and a USB port with iPod® connectivity.

Stepping up to the LE will get you keyless entry, power mirrors, power windows, a 60/40 split-folding rear seat, cruise control and an LCD driver multi-information display.

The top-of-the-line SE tacks on 16-inch alloy wheels, fog lamps, sporty exterior accents, sport fabric-trimmed seating surfaces and a leather-trimmed sport steering wheel.

Safety
Standard safety features include 9 airbags, antilock brakes, brake assist, electronic traction control, electronic brake force distribution, seatbelt pretensioners with force limiters and front height adjustment, a tire pressure monitoring system, and much, much more.

Warranty Information
Every new Toyota Yaris comes with a complimentary free Maintenance Plan and Roadside Assistance (includes lockout protection, flat tire changes, jump starts, fluid delivery, and towing) for 2 years or 25,000 miles; a 60 month or 60,000 mile Powertrain Warranty;  a 36 month or 36,000 mile Basic Warranty; and a 60 month, unlimited mile Anti-Corrosion Warranty.
