Although many on the Truck Trend staff bemoan the non-stop proliferation of $50,000-plus premium trim pickups, it seems we’re in the minority, with both the truck-buying public buying, as well as the truck manufacturers themselves building as many as they can sell and constantly coming up with new niche trims to entice buyers. So if you’re a fan of luxurious trucks, feast your eyes on this: the updated 2016 Ford F-150 Limited. Remember this is in addition to the already plush King Ranch and Platinum trims.
So what makes the 2016 F-150 Limited so special? Essentially, a whole boatload of equipment as standard. Included on the F-150 Limited is the new Sync 3 multimedia touchscreen interface with AppLink, a 360-degree camera system, adaptive cruise control, active park assist, quad-beam LED headlights, remote tailgate release, and multicontour massaging front seats.
Setting the 2016 Limited apart from other F-150s visually are raised letter “Limited” lettering on the hood, a trim-unique satin chrome grille and tailgate, 22-inch wheels, genuine fiddleback eucalyptus wood interior trim, Mojave leather seating surfaces, unique instrument cluster faces, and a laser-engraved VIN plate on the center console. Also standard is a blind-spot alert system, chrome front tow hooks on 4×4 models, a panoramic vista roof, power retracting running boards, remote start, integrated trailer brake controller, and a Sony 10-speaker premium audio system with HD Radio. Ford’s Pro Trailer Backup assist is available as an option.
All 2016 F-150 Limited models come standard with the 365hp, 420–lb-ft 3.5L EcoBoost V-6 engine mated to a six-speed automatic. Available colors are Shadow Black, Magnetic, Blue Jeans, and White Platinum Metallic tri-coat. The truck will go on sale this winter.
