For the 2016 model year, Lexus is shaking up the engine and model lineup for the IS sport sedan. The 250 and 250 AWD models have been discontinued, and instead, Lexus will offer an IS 200t, 300 AWD, and 350 model.
With the addition of the IS 200t, Lexus will add a 2.0-liter twin-scroll turbocharged inline-four to the lineup, which will be paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. This is the engine currently under the hood of the 2015 Lexus NX, but has been tweaked for the IS 200t to deliver 241 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque.
The IS 300 AWD will be powered by a modified 3.5-liter V-6 engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission for a power output of 255 hp and 236 lb-ft. The IS 350, however, will feature the 3.5-liter V-6 from the current model with the eight-speed auto. Power doesn’t increase, and holds steady at 306 hp and 277 lb-ft.
Other additions for the 2016 model year include a new Premium Plus package with a power tilt and telescopic steering wheel and rain-sensing wipers, and standard 18-inch five-spoke wheels on the IS 350. A heated steering wheel is now available as a standalone option.
Lexus will offer the F Sport package on all three models, which will include unique 18-inch wheels, unique suspension tuning, exterior and interior design treatments, and for the IS 300 AWD and 350, an intake sound that produces a sportier engine note.
