Now that Ferrari has released details on the new 488 Spider, Lamborghini is plotting its counterattack with a high-powered drop-top of its own. According to a hot scoop from Senior Features Editor Jonny Lieberman, we can expect a Lamborghini Huracan roadster to make its way to the Geneva motor show in 2016.
We’ve spent a lot of time with the Lamborghini Huracan this year, having just recently relinquished our long-termer after a glorious 30-day joy ride. The supercar packs a 5.2-liter V-10 engine with 602 hp and 413 lb-ft of torque, and the roadster version could feature these same specs. But it is also likely to weigh more than the traditional coupe. The Huracan we first tested was able to reach 60 mph in just 2.8 seconds.
Meanwhile, Ferrari recently dropped photos of the new 488 Spider, which is powered by the 488 GTB’s twin-turbo 3.9-liter V-8 engine making 660 hp and 561 lb-ft of torque. According to Ferrari’s estimates, the 488 Spider can reach 62 mph in 3 seconds flat, which interestingly, is the same time Ferrari gives for the GTB coupe.
Needless to say, we can’t wait to drive both of these cars. Which one would you prefer? Let us know in the comments below.
